Eset officially launched their new NOD32 version 3.0 antivirus, designed to protect PCs against viruses, trojans, worms, adware, spyware, phising, rootkits and other malware. NOD32 is available online from $39.99 and runs on Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Fans of NOD32 like the software for its virus detection and elimination ability, scanning speed and lower resource usage. There is also an advanced heuristic ThreatSense engine that proactively detects even malware that hasn’t yet exist in the signature database. Here are some test results that compare NOD32 against other popular antivirus applications.

Eset also released a security suite called Smart Security, as is the trend with all security software vendors. Smart Security includes antispam and a personal firewall, in addition to the antivirus. Smart Security is also available online at Eset’s website from $59.99.
